Kitchen and under-cabinet LED strip lighting NZ
Place your LED strip light in a kitchen closet or cabinet lighting for a modern finish or even use it to decorate your space for a futuristic, augmented reality atmosphere. Some strip lights are even water-resistant. Fitting your strip into an aluminium channel is a great way to even out the way the light spreads.
They are an excellent choice for garden or outdoor decorative lighting or task lighting in bathrooms. High-quality LED strip lighting should operate on an average rating value of 12 or 24 volts of direct current. Most of them emit lighting at a 120° beam angle, directed upwards, which means that the light beams are perpendicular to the mounting surface of the light strip.
How does an LED strip light work?
An LED strip consists of multiple Light Emitting Diode devices mounted on a flexible circuit board. These strip lights are typically no wider than half an inch but can be many feet long – like a piece of ribbon! And like a ribbon, strip lights can be trimmed to any desired length using a pair of scissors along pre-marked cutlines.
The quality and colour of these lights are determined by the quality and colour of the individual LEDs mounted on them. When it comes to colour choice, the powerful semiconductors offer incredible versatility. From warm and cool whites to exciting saturated colour – and even ultraviolet light – you can choose whatever colour you like for your strip light.
Because the circuit boards on an LED strip light are so flexible, they are incredibly easy to mount just about anywhere in your home. All you have to do is find the back of the strip, peel off the double-sided adhesive and then mount it on the surface of your choice, whether it is a straight, curved, uneven or flat surface. You can even mount strip lighting around corners and along odd edges!
Colours
The ideal LED strip light for you depends entirely on what you plan to use it for. These lighting devices are incredibly multifunctional, which means that a single strip can work for a wide range of purposes. The primary considerations you will have to make are your choice of colour, brightness, and the length you need. How many LEDs per metre and the power they use are the key factors in determining the brightness of your new lights.
The appearance of white light is determined by its colour temperature. Here at Display Lighting, we offer strips in 3000K, 4000K, and 6000K. As a rule, you will see the higher the number on your strip, the cooler (or bluer in tone) the light.
Shades of white
3000K light is known as “warm white”. It is an orange-gold colour ideal for anywhere you would like to create a cosy atmosphere, such as bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms.
4000K lights are similar to natural light, which is why they are called natural or neutral lights. They work effectively for under cabinet lighting.
6000K LED strips are known as “blue” or “cool” white. This contemporary, modern style of strip light is good for use as task lighting in workspaces such as kitchens and offices.
